How to sign up for Open+

Open+ pilot scheme

Good news! We’re currently running a pilot scheme at some of our libraries:

All adults are now pre-approved to use Open+.

This only applies to adults registered at :

  • Bramhall
  • Bredbury
  • Edgeley
  • Hazel Grove
  • Heatons

To sign up for Open+ at any library not mentioned above, you’ll need to provide both:

  • proof of address, such as a Council Tax bill, utility bill or bank statement
  • proof of identity, such as your driving licence, birth certificate or passport

If you’re between 16 and 18 years old, you’ll have to show proof of address to use Open+ at any library, including libraries in the pilot scheme.

You can find more information in the customer agreement for Open+.

Support available

There are a variety of measures in place to support you and keep you safe whilst using your local library in Open+.

For our pilot libraries, there are videos to show you how to access and exit our buildings. Videos are only available for these libraries at the moment. Check them out here:

At all other libraries, once you’re registered, we’ll give you an induction of the library, including the locations of emergency exits. We also provide an emergency phone and emergency contact numbers.

The library has CCTV which is monitored during Open+. The cameras give excellent coverage of the library.

Open+ also controls the lighting so that the library is bright and welcoming.
