On May 13, 1988, “Friday the 13th Part VII” opened in area theaters. How is this related to Placer County history? The actor who portrayed the masked killer Jason Voorhees was none other than stuntman-turned-actor Kane Hodder.
Kane was born in Auburn on April 8, 1955, and lived here with his family until they moved in 1960. Kane would go on to portray Jason in three subsequent Friday the 13th films and is regarded by most horror fans as the best Jason. He has starred in over 150 films in his career thus far and is credited as a stuntman in over 100. Kane is one of many Placer County connections to the horror genre.
