Proposed Location: Two miles north of U.S. Interstate-10 (I-10) and eight miles west of the City of Blythe in an unicorporated area of Riverside County, California.
Electricity Production Capacity: 485 megawatts.
Company: NextEra Energy Resources, LLC.
Acreage: 4,138 acres of BLM land will be disturbed by project construction and operation.
Status: The Modified Blythe Solar Power Project was approved on August 1, 2014. Further information is available on the California Energy Commission's website at https://www.energy.ca.gov/powerplant/pv/blythe-solar-power-project.
Electrical Transmission Connection: A 230kV gen-tie line will connect the solar energy generating facility to the Southern California Edison Colorado River Substation, located 5 miles to the southwest.
The public comment period for the Draft EIS closed on March 24, 2014. The public comment period for the Final EIS opened May 30 and closed June 30, 2014. At this time there are no longer any opportunities to comment on this project.
