ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIPS AVAILABLE

Join your business as an Associate Member of the Foundation. Your benefits include a membership plaque, yearly recognition, newsletter, a link to your website on our website, and use of the Foundation logo. Most importantly, you will be helping WSDOT employees in their time of need. New members have an opportunity to select an item from the Foundation Gift Shop for free. Donors should consult the Sponsorship Application by clicking HERE.

There is a limited time opportunity in addition to the regular associate membership if you choose to become a Charter Associate member for an initial fee of $1,000 (and $750 each year thereafter). Charter members will be recognized annually.

If membership isn’t right for you at this time you can also support the Foundation by making a one-time donation. Every donation helps us fulfill our mission!

Monthly Memorial Tribute
This month we pay tribute to and remember these
WSDOT employees who died in work zone incidents:

James C. Wishard, May 19, 1980, Southwest Region, engineer technician. James was killed when he was recording data on a pad and walked behind a contractor’s truck while it was backing up.

William L. Cook, May 24, 1977, Northwest Region, bridge maintenance technician. William was killed when he got caught between the counterweight and another part of the Swinomish Channel Bridge while performing maintenance work.

Two Eastern Region maintenance technicians were killed along the freeway in Spokane in 1959 when a WSDOT paint truck exploded. Newspaper reports stated a flipped cigarette may have caused the large explosion.

George H. Mulfinger, May 8, 1959. George died from injuries received when his paint truck ignited that day.

Francis E. Baker, May 9, 1959. Francis was working on a nearby maintenance truck when the paint truck exploded. He died from his injuries the following day.

2024 Worker Memorial

The Memorial Foundation directors attended the Worker Memorial Event in Olympia on April 2, 2024, to honor and remember the WSDOT fallen workers. Foundation President Patty Rubstello read the names of all the fallen workers at the event. Other speakers at the event included Pasco Bakotich (WSDOT), Governor Jay Inslee, Secretary of Transportation Roger Millar, State Patrol Chief John Batise, and Carley Francis (WSDOT).
