Last Thursday, we visited Galveston, TX for an Access to Capital Panel Discussion hosted at Vision Galveston. The event started off with an overview of the Small Business Administration provided by Outreach and Marketing Specialist Elizabeth C., MBA Charles and then went into the featured panel discussion - which provided insight to SBA lending programs, the aspects lenders look for when entrepreneurs are seeking a loan and information on the 5 C’s of credit. The discussion was moderated by Lead Lender Relations Specialist Bobby Bilberry and included SBA lenders Francisco Gonzalez from LiftFund, Nancy Webb from Frost Bank, and Cindy Urrutia from PeopleFund. On site to answer questions from the small businesses and entrepreneurs were District Director Mark Winchester, Lead Lender Relations Specialist Bobby Bilberry, and Outreach and Marketing Specialist Elizabeth Charles. #SBAHDO

On Tuesday, we attended the Greater Houston Business Procurement Forum (GHBPF) at the Ion Houston. The theme for this month’s GHBPF was ‘Opportunities Abound in the Houston Area in 2025’. Representatives from federal, state, and local agencies were on hand to discuss new projects, initiatives, and business opportunities. Business Opportunity Specialists Ida Benson and Jesus Gomez provided information on SBA programs with an emphasis on federal contracting programs. #SBAHDO

Yesterday, the SBA Houston team and 19 other community organizations (including local and federal agencies, financial institutions, resource partners, and community stakeholders) participated in the East End Small Business Resource Fair! Attendees were able to learn about all the resources available throughout the East End area for their small business. The fair included presentations from SBA Houston, BakerRipley, and each resource was able to provide insight on their organization as well. Representing SBA Houston were Lead Economic Development Specialist Valerie Maher and Outreach and Marketing Specialist Elizabeth C., MBA Charles.
