About this event

Not a day goes by without news about the global, harmful effects of plastics and other discarded materials on our environment.

In collaboration with TRAID, the Restart Project and Dr Bike we are delighted to launch a series of Repair & Reuse Pop-Up events in Brent.

Our events are about repair and reuse and highlight the need to make big changes to our throwaway culture.

These FREE events will enable local residents in our Green Neighbourhood areas (Church End, Roundwood and Kingsbury) to connect with local organisations and businesses who champion repair, reuse and upcycling and help us achieve our shared endeavours to live more sustainably.

Refreshments will be provided.

PLEASE NOTE: Parking is extremely limited around the Unity Centre and as it’s a green event, we encourage people to attend via sustainable methods (walking, cycling, public transport)

Meet our stallholders:

TRAID:

TRAID is a UK charity working for nearly 20-years to tackle and solve the problems caused by producing, consuming and disposing of clothes. Keeping clothes in use for longer is the core of our work.

Bring along the clothes you want repaired. All equipment will be provided by TRAID. But these items will not be included in the repair workshop:

• Shoes

• Handbags

• Leather clothing

Please note: You will need to book a slot in advance. The slots are: 10am-11am; 11am-12pm; 12pm-1pm and 1pm-2pm.

Email climateemergency@brent.gov.uk with your preferred time and contact details. The slots are limited and will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.

Restart Project

The Restart Project helps people learn how to repair their broken electronics, and rethink how they consume them in the first place.

Please bring along small electronic appliances that you would like to repair. All tools will be provided.

We will not be accepting large appliances such as:

• Microwaves

• Power tools

• Laptop/phone screen repairs

Dr Bike

Dr Bike are experienced mechanics who conduct a full check of your cycle and carry out minor repairs on site. For any repairs that require a bit more work, the mechanics will give detailed advice on exactly what needs fixing and roughly how much it should cost at a local bike shop.

Bring along your bike, and Dr Bike can help with:

• Puncture repairs

• Pumping tyres

• Brake adjustments

• Gear adjustments

• Oiling chains

• Minor adjustments like correctly setting handlebars, correctly setting saddles

• Change brake pads and brake cables

Dr Bike do not carry out major repairs such as replacing gear cassettes, chains or carry out a full service.

PLEASE NOTE: By signing up to this event, you accept responsibility for any subsequent issues arising with repair of your items.

If you require any assistance or have any special requirements to be able to attend and take part, please email climateemergency@brent.gov.uk

If you are under 18, please come with an adult

Do not attend if you have any COVID symptoms.
