Current and upcoming fishing opportunities
- Sturgeon retention fisheries above Bonneville Dam have closed for the remainder of 2025.
The States have set the dates for the Columbia River recreational spring Chinook fishery dates downstream of Bonneville Dam and from the upcoming dates for Bonneville Dam to the Oregon/Washington Border. Please see the fishing regulation update page for details.
- Winter steelhead and a few spring Chinook are making an appearance in the lower Columbia River.

Fish consumption advisories
The Oregon Health Authority has issued consumption guidelines for parts of the Columbia River due to high levels of mercury and/or PCBs. Fish with these chemicals look, act, smell and taste like any other fish, so caution is important.

Salmon, steelhead and shad
On Saturday's (3/8) flight, there were 76 boats and 88 Oregon bank anglers from Bonneville Dam down to Astoria.
Gorge:
Weekly checking showed no catch for one boat (two anglers)
Troutdale:
Weekly checking showed no catch for one boat (one angler).
Portland to Warrior Rock:
Weekly checking showed no catch for 10 boats (21 anglers), and no catch for 16 bank anglers.
Warrior Rock to Rainier:
Weekly checking showed no catch for two boats (five anglers), and one adult spring Chinook kept and one winter steelhead released for 60 bank anglers.
Rainier to Lower Puget Island:
Weekly checking showed no catch for 11 boats (23 anglers) and one winter steelhead released for 83 bank anglers.
Lower Puget Island to Tongue Point/Rocky Point
Weekly checking showed no catch for 10 boats (16 anglers).
Bonneville Pool (Bonneville Dam upstream to The Dalles Dam):

The Dalles Pool (The Dalles Dam upstream to John Day Dam):
