Our Supported Lodgings hosts are people in the community who open their homes to young people (16-18) experiencing homelessness. They provide a warm, welcoming, and safe environment to stay, as well as an opportunity to learn and develop the skills young people will need for a more independent way of living in the future.

Who uses supported lodgings?

The young people who access the service may have experience in the care system, or can no longer live with their families.

What do I need to become a supported lodgings host?

The Supported Lodgings host will offer a spare room to the young person during their stay and access to other household facilities. They will provide a safe and clean environment, and basic emotional support through listening and talking.

The host will work with the young person and the staff team to provide a programme of support to meet the young person’s individual needs, and develop their practical skills and emotional stability to prepare them for independent living. They will also provide practical support by helping the young person with household duties.

We celebrate diversity and this will be reflected in the young people we support and the hosts we recruit. We are particularly keen to hear from potential hosts from the LGBTQ+ communities.

What support can you expect from us as a host?

We will provide ongoing training and support while the young person is staying with you. A named member of Depaul UK staff will be in regular contact to help support both you and the young person. We also offer access to peer support from other hosts.  As a host you are entitled to receive a payment for your provision whilst the young person is staying with you.
