About TBO and MR TBO
The National Airspace System and global air traffic management (ATM) are evolving to Trajectory Based Operations (TBO). TBO is an ATM initiative that enhances strategic planning through the use, sharing, and management of aircraft trajectory. The increased information availability, especially under changing conditions, supports airspace users in choosing the best actions to meet their individual mission objectives, priorities, or both from origin to destination airports.
Building on our previous lab demonstrations, the FAA, Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (AEROTHAI), Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), and Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) are showcasing multi-regional TBO concepts with live flights in June 2023. The demonstration will take place over six days and include four scenarios.
- The FAA will lead two flight segments. Segment 1 will operate from Seattle, WA, to Tokyo, Japan. Segment 4 will fly between Bangkok, Thailand, and Seattle.
- Segments 2 and 3 are in collaboration between AEROTHAI, CAAS, and JCAB.
