Supervisors seek alternative to power shutoffs

The Placer County Board of Supervisors is seeking help from the state to find an alternative to Pacific Gas and Electric Company public safety power shutoffs. Pointing to severe hardships on rural communities and harsh economic impacts to business owners, the board voted this week to send letters of concern to the governor, PG&E and the California Public Utilities Commission. The Placer County Charter is like our Constitution: It guides the organizational structure, duties and responsibilities of the county’s elected and appointed officials. Every five years we appoint residents to review it and propose any needed updates. Join the Placer Charter Review Committee on Nov. 15 in Tahoe City to share your thoughts with them. Learn more
