Rescues don't get much harder than this

CAL FIRE rescue

After a pickup careened off Secret Town Road last week and rolled 150 feet down a drainage, it took 30 rescuers nearly 3 hours to rescue the driver. Fortunately for the driver, and for anyone else who might need help in an emergency someday, our CAL FIRE/Placer County Fire Department is trained and ready for challenging rescues like this. The Placer County Sheriff Office’s Search and Rescue teams have started their annual telemarketing fundraising drive throughout the county. This year, they're raising money to purchase equipment and send volunteers to specialized training. Learn more


Gypsy moth warning in the Foresthill region

Our Agriculture Commissioner this week issued a gypsy moth warning in response to finding a moth in the Foresthill area last Thursday. Gypsy moths are an invasive species whose caterpillars feed on tree leaves, threatening forested areas especially. Learn more


Census 2020: Coming soon to your neighborhood!

Census 2020

Census takers are now out in our neighborhoods in Placer County, visiting homes of residents who have not yet responded to the 2020 Census. Just as a reminder, you can take the Census online, via phone or your computer. Every person counted brings $10,000 to the county for the next 10 years. Take the Census
