Why it's a great department/business unit: Washington Service Corps (WSC) is the oldest publicly funded service program of its type in the nation. WSC programs are based on federal grants and annual/revolving contract timelines. As the SMS Coordinator, you will focus on supporting annual program cycles by coordinating federal and state requirements between ESD, the WSC office, all partner sites and members as assigned. This position helps bolster the agency's strategic goal to contribute to an effective workforce system by strengthening state and community partnerships and delivering a prepared and stable workforce.
 
NOTE: This is a project position anticipated to last through September 30, 2022.
 

Position Summary: WSC is seeking to hire an Eastern Washington Site and Member Services (SMS) Coordinator (ESPC2). This role is responsible for a high level of external and internal communication, training, and monitoring compliance requirements. Your ability to adapt is critical as you provide excellent customer service and technical assistance directly to sites and members. As the primary coordinator, you will participate in all program related trainings to maintain advanced knowledge of requirements and policies, including program performance measures, annual customer service, and DEI trainings. In addition, you will be maintaining internal metrics and providing program planning and support by assisting in researching and problem analysis.

Duties

Core Daily Responsibilities:

  • Connect virtually with WSC staff, sites, and members.
  • Requirements and training schedule including some regular regional travel from home office when safe to do so.
  • Administration of cyclical, time sensitive program processes and forms/paperwork.
  • Processing site RFA, member enrollments and member exits within sensitive timeframe.
  • Site and member recruitment/ placement support.
  • Collects and reviews external site performance measures and member position descriptions to verify all program regulations are maintained.
  • Collect and reviews program documents and reporting.
  • Site and member reporting and member evaluations and timesheet collection.
  • Coordinate and provide program-level assistance in the administration of program activities
  • This position is responsible for internal program collaboration in a teamwork atmosphere.
  • Provide technical and data collection and entry support for the review, maintenance, and monitoring of program/processing operation requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, political science, or closely related field, AND two (2) years of professional or technical experience in employment and training or unemployment insurance with substantive knowledge of National Service programs like AmeriCorps.

OR a combination of education and/or relevant experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to pass a State and federal background check to CNCS standards.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Specialized knowledge of National Service Programs.
  • Experience working in and skill sets for coordination with CNCS and/or other national service programs relevant for AmeriCorps program experience.
  • Direct service in AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, Vista or other related service area is highly desired.

Insurance Benefits

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
 
State Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).  New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs.  For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems' web site.
 
Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP).  This is a supplemental retirement savings program (similar to an IRA) that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
 
Vacation (Annual Leave)
 
You begin accruing vacation starting your first month of employment. Since we value your loyalty, the amount of vacation you can accrue increases the longer you work with us. Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year. Vacation accrues for full-time employees per WAC 357-31-165.
