NERC and NIST have collaboratively produced a very useful and informative mapping of the NERC CIP Standards to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework version 1.1. This information provides some much needed guidance on how the NERC CIP standards effectively represent a NIST profile. This is a very good and worthwhile first step. I commend NIST and NERC for their efforts in this regard and for their good work in this area - well done to all those who contributed to this effort. Thank you NERC and NIST.

But more guidance is needed to assist the industry in finding and implementing best practices to achieve a NIST CSF tier 4 level of proficiency. I hope that NERC continues down the NIST CSF path by providing the industry with the additional guidance needed to achieve tier 4 - (adaptive; the most proficient level). I stand ready to work with others in the industry to achieve this goal. We must support the industry by giving clear guidance on implementable and practical best practices to protect the grid.

Thank you NERC and NIST for taking this very important first step on the path to a tier 4 level of proficiency for the Electric industry.
