As a Human Resources Assistant, you will perform the following duties:
Conducts new hire orientation. Prepares new hire packages and provides to employees. During orientation, ensures employee information is complete and accurate; provides ethics handout; and ensures viewing of ethics video; swears in and fingerprints employees, etc. Coordinates applications for personnel security background investigations with GSA Personnel Security Division and with the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Ensures applications include required data. Monitors and tracks the progress of the applicant’s application. Receives notification of fingerprint clearance and certification of background investigation. Prepares correspondence/reports for final review by higher grade Human Resources Specialist. Occasionally, may be required to prepare lengthy documents from copy on which changes have been made. Ensures correct punctuation, capitalization, spelling and grammar. Proofreads material prior to forwarding to specialist for review. Provides information and appropriate forms for inquiries related to a variety of human resources activities and operations. Refers more complex policy and procedural questions to higher grade specialists or subordinate supervisors, as needed. Provides basic HR guidance to customers on benefits, with-in-grade increases, and leave information.

The GS-07 salary range starts at $37,301 per year. Locality will be determined based on duty location.
If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience gained in an administrative support or Human Resources support position and involved experience in two or more of the following areas:

(b) Copy of your agency’s annual performance appraisal(s) or written reference(s) from a supervisor at the agency verifying satisfactory performance during your appointment(s).
