Recommended COVID and Other Respiratory Virus Guidance

Recommended Prevention Steps

The CDC no longer uses COVID Hospitalization Levels to determine community COVID risk. Instead, the CDC has published new guidelines incorporating Influenza, Respiratory Syncytial Virus/RSV, colds, and COVID. This is called Respiratory Virus Guidance.

Core Prevention Strategies

  • Immunizations
    • Influenza
    • COVID
    • RSV
  • Hand hygiene with hand washing or hand sanitizer
  • Take steps for cleaner air in your home and business
  • Treatments when available
  • Stay home and away from others if you are sick

Additional Prevention Strategies

  • Masking
  • Social Distancing
  • Testing for COVID, Influenza, RSV

Layering prevention strategies can be especially helpful when:

  • Respiratory viruses are causing a lot of illness in the community
  • You or those around you are at risk for severe disease
  • You or those around you were exposed, have been sick, or are recovering

Please stay home if you are ill until your symptoms improve and you are fever-free for 24 hours.
