Replay: Gov. Whitmer update on Michigan COVID-19 response

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is expected to give an update on COVID-19 and Michigan's efforts to slow the spread of the virus at 9:15 a.m. Friday.

Whitmer is expected to be joined by Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Chief Medical Executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun.

On Thursday, the Michigan Health Department confirmed 2,629 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the state's total cases to 618,421 since the start of the pandemic.

An additional 25 COVID-19 deaths were reported Thursday; however, 24 of those deaths were identified through the state health department's regular review of previous death certificates. Michigan's death toll is now 15,835.
