The Joe Louis Greenway pours its first concrete paths!
This week, we were able to celebrate the first concrete pouring milestone on Phase 1 between Warren-Tireman! We were joined this week by neighborhood leaders, community advocates, and city staff to honor the collective efforts and celebrate!
"JLG is a generational and transformative investment in several neighborhoods throughout the city and surrounding communities. In spite of historic challenges of blight and environmental contamination, we are building a permanent infrastructure that brings a beautiful and safe public space, expands digital inclusion through fiber optic cable and reduces pressure on sewer infrastructure through stormwater management. The City's $20M ARPA investment has already leveraged a $60M commitment from the State and will eventually leverage a 500M citywide investment in neighborhood transformation, jobs and economic development.
An added plus is the road work is being done by Major Cement, a Detroit Headquartered business with an over 51% Detroit resident workforce that also provides joint venture opportunities to minority Detroit contractors."
