Morning Beach Conditions

April 19, 2024

MODERATE rip current risk with cool water and air temperatures at all beaches today from Duck to Ocracoke. Only experienced surf swimmers who know how to escape a rip current should enter the water with proper thermal protection. Never swim alone and always take flotation!

Strongest rip currents often occur a couple hours either side of low tide, which is around 1135 am today.

On the northern beaches expect temperatures in the upper 50s with mostly cloudy skies this morning turning partly sunny this afternoon. On Hatteras Island expect temperatures in the lower 60s with partly sunny skies all day.  Expect 10 to 15 mph northeast winds at all beaches. Water Temperatures: Jennettes Pier...54. Oregon Inlet Marina...69. Rodanthe Pier...58. Avon Pier...65.

Ocean Rescue staffing is at off season levels. If help is needed, know your location and call 911!
