The Women's Woodland Stewardship Network is offering an event at McFarland Park in Ames on Saturday, April 27th, from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. We will spend the morning exploring the woods around the park with ISU professor Dr. Cathy McMullen who will talk about woodland wildflower identification and woodland understory restoration.
The Forest City Parks department and the Iowa DNR would like to invite you to a forestry field day at Thomas Bearse Park in Forest City Iowa to talk about invasive species and forest management.
The Forest City Parks Department has started the difficult process of controlling the European Buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica) in the park. This field day will talk about what has been done and what will be needed to control this very invasive species. We will also talk about oak management and the difficulties of perpetuating oak on the landscape.
The Natural Resources Stewardship Professional Development Day is an annual one-day training and networking event for extension professionals to come together from across Iowa and a broad swath of program areas and disciplines to be inspired by some time outdoors, as well as discuss, network, and learn about natural resource issues, educational needs, and programming opportunities.This year's program is on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 and will be exploring conservation around Carroll and Guthrie Counties.
