CALL FOR FIVE NEW MEMBERS (AD HOMINEM)

The National Oceanography Centre (NOC) Association of Marine Science National Capability Beneficiaries (the NOCA) brings together the NERC funded marine science community to enhance its influence on funders, policy makers and the impact of science on society. NOCA provides a channel to share information with the marine science community and its stakeholders and responds to feedback from members. 

The NOCA Steering Board is a non-executive body which provides advice to the Chief Executive of NOC on: 

  • The strategic development and delivery of marine science national capability and facilitating those engaged in the NERC funded marine science community to work together to advance UK marine science for public benefit 
  • The wider leadership role of NOC within UK and international marine science. 

Membership comprises the following: 

  • A Chair who is independent of NOC 
  • President of Challenger Society for Marine Science (CSMS) 
  • Chair of Marine Science Coordination Committee (MSCC) 
  • Director of Marine Alliance for Science & Technology for Scotland (MASTS). 

Other Stakeholders in use of NC (Optional): 

  • Chief Executive of the Society for Maritime Industries (SMI) 
  • Chief Executive, Institute for Marine Engineering Science & Technology (IMarEST). 

Six ad hominem Members from the General Members of the NOCA, either from: 

  • The NERC-funded marine science community who consider themselves beneficiaries of the NC provided by the National Oceanography Centre and its Marine National Capability Delivery Partners or 
  • Government Departments or Public Agencies who consider themselves beneficiaries directly or indirectly of the NC and national and public good activities provided by NOC.

Meetings 

The Steering Board meets twice per year and the term of membership is three years in the first instance. Board members also attend the Annual Meeting of the NOCA. 

Successful applicants will be invited to attend the NOCA Steering Board and NOCA Annual Meetings on 22nd and 23rd June 2020.

Please note this is not a salaried position, although reasonable T&S expenses will be paid.
