Autumn film screenings in local libraries feature modern classics, new releases and anime

Libraries across Devon are hosting a must-see film programme this autumn.
Screened by Libraries Unlimited throughout November, the line-up includes award-winning films starring Kate Winslet, Peter Dinklage, Kenneth Branagh and Colin Firth among others. From well-known classics to recent releases and anime, there’s something for audiences of all ages.
Six libraries will be running the screenings, which include Oscar and BAFTA Award-winners, between Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 30th November. A further programme of films will be rolled out in early 2023.
‘Films at the Library’ will take place in Barnstaple, Crediton, Cullompton, Newton Abbot, Seaton, and St Thomas. Full details are available on the Libraries Evolve website.
The festival is organised by Evolve through Libraries Unlimited, with support from the BFI Film Audience Network with funds from the National Lottery. Evolve is funded by Arts Council England and Exeter City Council.
Olivia Desborough, Programme Co-ordinator at Libraries Unlimited said: “Building on the success of the first Libraries Unlimited film festival, which took place in March, we’re keen to make film screenings a regular feature in our libraries. With screenings planned for some of our smaller libraries, we’re keen to reach our more remote communities too. This autumn, we’re offering another varied and inspiring programme of films, carefully put together by a dedicated team of librarians and with their own communities in mind. With the nights drawing in, what better way to spend an evening than in the comfort of your local library, lost in a good film!”

Films screening in local libraries this November:
Ammonite (15) 2021
