As required by section 50203 (b) of the Bipartisan Budget Act (BBA) of 2018, selected ground ambulance organizations are required by law to report cost, revenue, utilization and other information about providing ground ambulance services to CMS. MedPAC, which is the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, will use these data to submit a report to Congress on the adequacy of Medicare payment rates for ground ambulance services. MedPAC is an independent federal body established by the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 (P.L. 105-33) to advise the U.S. Congress on issues affecting the Medicare program.

Ground ambulance organizations are required to provide their start date of their data collection period and contact information to CMS within 30 days after receiving notification that they have been selected.
