Michael Strank was born in present day Slovakia in 1919, emigrating as a child to Pa. & joined the United States Marine Corps in 1939. At the Battle of Iwo Jima, he was one of the Marines who raised the second U.S. flag on Mount Suribachi. He died in combat the next week. #MilitaryAppreciationMonth
