Damaging tornado touches down in southern Ontario, Canada
A tornado caused major damage in southern Ontario on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. According to Environment Canada, the twister was spawned by a low-pressure system that brought a prolonged period of heavy rain, with very high rainfall accumulations in many areas of the province.
In a weather summary issued by the department on Wednesday, June 23, it was confirmed that the tornado occurred around 19:00 UTC (15:00 LT) at Sturgeon Lake, which tracked north through Sturgeon Point and possibly north beyond this.
The twister, which lasted for about three to four minutes, caused major damage on a boathouse along the shoreline, but no injuries were reported.
"Information regarding a track and a rating on the Enhanced Fujita Scale will be forthcoming later when more information is gathered and analysis can be done in consultation with the Northern Tornadoes Project," Environment Canada wrote.

A look at the damage from the tornado in Kawartha Lakes today. Luckily there were no injuries and the damage was limited to the boathouse, trees, and a few small wooden structures on the property. #onstorm pic.twitter.com/F1xbTqY43e
