Michigan Arbor Day Alliance Community Tree Planting Grant Program Gets Boost from Consumers Energy

CHARLOTTE, Mich., April 9, 2021 – A $24,000 grant from Consumers Energy to the Eaton Conservation District’s Michigan Arbor Day Alliance (MADA) will help increase tree plantings in Great Lakes State communities and educate youth about the important contribution trees make to our environment.

Each year, the Eaton Conservation District seeks funding to support tree plantings, forestry outreach, watershed outreach, water quality monitoring, cost sharing for producers, and more.

The funds from Consumers Energy will go directly to the Michigan Arbor Day Alliance’s Tree Planting Grant Program and forestry outreach throughout Michigan.

Consumers Energy is committed to protecting the planet. Its Clean Energy Plan calls for eliminating coal as an energy source, achieving net-zero carbon emissions and meeting 90% of customers’ energy needs through clean sources. Trees are great at sequestering carbon dioxide and reducing our carbon foot-print.

Organizations interested in applying for a Tree Planting Grant up to $2,000 can visit the (MADA) website for more information and to download an application. The deadline to apply is April 30.
