On Monday, 10 May 2021, the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) organized the Workshop on “The role of education in preventing violence against women”.

Education is key to prevent violence against women and gender-based violence (GBV). The workshop explored, among other topics, how to tackle gender stereotypes in schools and how to engage families and boys in combatting GBV. Speakers will also discuss best practices on GBV prevention in schools, teachers training in gender sensitive education and reporting mechanisms.

Members debated with Mar Venegas (University of Granada, Spain), Professor Susanne Strand (Örebrö University, Sweden) and György Mészáros (Eötvös Loránd University, Hungary).
