In 2012, after a severe rain event that impacted the Lansdowne/Churchill Neighborhood with flooding and overland water flow, the City of Ann Arbor embarked on a study to evaluate opportunities for stormwaterLansdowne and Churchill project map image.png management improvements in the Upper Malletts Creek drainage area to help mitigate impacts from such storms. Several recommendations from the study were incorporated into the city's Capital Improvement Plan, including a large stormwater detention basin at Churchill Downs Park. The city commenced with the planning and design for this project in 2016.

Washtenaw County Resources will be responsible for performing or contracting for the project consistent with best management practices including soil erosion and sedimentation control. Please visit the county project website for more information, meeting material and future public events.
