Garden Waste Subscription April 2024 to March 2025

Fortnightly garden waste collection

You can opt in for a chargeable, fortnightly, garden waste collection service. We provide a 240-litre brown wheeled bin.

Each year a different coloured sticker is displayed on the bin to show you have paid for the current collection year. Your bin will only be emptied if you are displaying the current year’s sticker.

The last date an order can be placed is 31 December. 

Subscribe to garden waste collection service

You can opt in to order garden waste collection if you are:

• An existing customer who wants to renew the service and maybe order an additional 240-litre bin
• A new customer

Existing customers will receive a sticker within 10 working days.

Any bins ordered will be delivered within 15 working days, with the sticker already attached.

Cost

The annual subscription is £86 between 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025. If you opt in later in the year, the cost will be as follows:

• From 1 April to 31 August - £86 
• From 1 September to 31 December  - £55

Do not use this form to order a replacement bin, see below.

Bins ordered by 15 March will be delivered by 1 April for the start of the new contract.

Bins ordered after 15 March will be delivered within 15 working days.

Report a broken or missing garden waste bin

To make your bin last longer, please make sure that it isn’t overfull, as compacted waste can damage the bin during the emptying process. 

Once you have renewed your service, report any garden waste bin that is currently broken beyond repair by clicking on the button, below:

Replace broken bin

Once you have reported, make sure it is visible at the front of your property ready for the exchange. Once you receive your new sticker, please place on the current bin, below the handle. The new bin will be delivered with the correct sticker already on it, within 15 working days.

Charge introduction

A charge for the replacement of broken or missing bins will come in to force from 1 April 2024. This charge covers the cost of purchase and delivery of the bins. 

The new charge will be £40 per bin. 

The replacement and exchange of bins form will be available from 1 April.

We advise residents to place your house number or house name clearly on your bin.

We will replace free of charge any bins that have fallen into the vehicle or been damaged by the crew on collection day and reported by crews. 

To opt out of garden waste collection service 

If you no longer need the service, just don't renew. If you choose not to renew the service your brown bin is not removed by Wokingham Borough Council and we will not remove your unwanted garden waste bin. 

Garden waste sacks

If you do not wish to opt in to the garden waste scheme, then one alternative is using 75 litre compostable garden waste sacks. 

The sacks are a useful alternative when the garden waste bin order form is unavailable for new subscribers between January and February.
