Shenard Foster of Detroit Loyola wrestling is voted Metro Detroit Athlete of the Week

Shenard Foster became the first wrestler from Detroit Loyola to win an individual wrestling state championship and fans made sure to give him praise by naming him the Metro Detroit Athlete of the Week.

Collecting 5,274 of the 8,871 total votes in the fan poll, Foster had 59.45 percent of the votes and was well ahead of the 2,733 votes collected by Ja’Marcus Smith of Detroit Mumford wrestling.

Foster made program history when he beat Gavin Wilmoth of Traverse City St. Francis, 5-4, in the 160-pound championship match in Division 4. He finished his season a perfect 17-0.
