This page covers reactive road closures caused by severe weather events, such as flooding. For planned road closures please our roadworks page.

Updated 17th April 2024 @ 12:23pm - roads closed due to flooding

Please note, we update this page as often as possible, but our X (Twitter) page may have more updated information. Our main focus is key routes (A & B, roads to hospitals and schools) - small, local lanes may not be included in the list below. During a major incident we may not be able to attend to all incidents as quickly as usual, this means that some roads may remain closed for a number of days.

Roads closed due to flooding

  • Wainlode Lane, Norton
  • Ham Road, Ashleworth
  • Rock Street, Chaceley

A number of roads around the county are affected by flooding, fallen trees or other incidents. The above list shows those that are closed, impassable or passable with care.

Please note - after a flood, we need to inspect the road to make sure it is still safe to travel on. Road closures remain in place until this inspection is done, so please do not move signs. Even if the road looks clear or passable, it might not be safe. We need to check the surface, clear up any debris and grit if needed. Road closures are in place to keep you and your vehicle safe.

Our flood guide will help you if you are affected by flooding and advise you what to do before, during and after flooding occurs.

Please note: any information posted on this page applies to the GCC road network ONLY and not National Highways trunk roads, for example, the A40, A417/A419 and the motorways. Traffic information for National Highways roads can be found on their Twitter.
