Story

We are starting early this year!

Back in 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic - we as a group of children in care nurses started a very small project to provide our care experienced young people across Devon with a festive Christmas hamper.

This was an overwhelming success, and we are now into our 4th fundraising year! We are fortunate to be supported by our Devon and Torbay social care colleagues, alongside the Exeter Food Bank. We work alongside the foodbank, social care colleagues, charity organisations and businesses as well as individuals who support the project with their kind and generous donations. There are a team of packers and people who deliver the hampers to the Young People/Adults both in Devon and those living outside of the local area.

Our project has grown significantly, we have over 500 care leavers across Torbay and Devon alone, some of whom are parents, in emergency accommodation, unaccompanied asylum seeking young people with no family in the UK, young people who are isolated or at risk of isolation, and young people in our 16+ accommodation.

This ‘Just Giving’ link can be used for a donation to support our project. However, should you prefer to provide a gift or items we would be very grateful for any gifts of toiletries, soft blankets or large soft towels. Please do liaise with a member of the team who will arrange a local collection.

The charity is registered as Devon Partnership NHS Trust Special Charity and gives hope and support to those with mental health and learning disability needs across Devon and nationally. Our charity raises funds to make a difference to the people we care for and provides a platform which encourages recovery, well-being and draws closer links to the community.
