Urging other Minnesotans to do the same, Gov. Tim Walz announced Wednesday that after attending community events he recently got a coronavirus test.

The Democratic governor’s test results were negative, according to a Twitter post by Walz. Lt. Got. Peggy Flanagan also tweeted that she tested negative.

Gov. Walz already isolated himself once during the pandemic after a member of his security detail tested positive for the coronavirus.

State leaders and health officials are urging anyone who attended demonstrations protesting the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police to get a coronavirus tests.

There are free testing sites in St. Paul and Minneapolis, but all the appointments are booked this week. Residents can learn more about how and when to get tested visit: www.mn.gov/COVID19/.
