Overview
The Department of Transportation has the authority to establish two grant programs for aviation workforce development through fiscal year 2028 according to the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018, section 625 and amended by the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024 (S.1939 - 118th Congress (2023-2024): FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024 | Congress.gov | Library of Congress), section 440.
The FAA is investing in the future aviation workforce. We are providing grants to academia and the aviation community to help prepare a more inclusive talent pool of pilots and aviation maintenance technicians, to inspire and recruit the next generation of aviation professionals.
