Queen's Platinum Jubilee Beacon lighting event
Thursday 2 June
Green's Windmill

Events to mark the 70th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne are being planned across the world, and Nottingham is no exception.

A series of events, activities, and installations will take place between Thursday 2 – Sunday 5 June across Nottingham that everybody can enjoy over the extended Bank Holiday weekend. The first events to be announced are those with more of a community focus.

On Thursday 2 June, as part of a chain of Queen’s Platinum Jubilee beacons, four Nottingham neighbourhoods will light their beacons, joining thousands of others throughout the nations and regions of the UK and across the Commonwealth.

  • Green’s Windmill (Sneinton): Event including live music, food and access to the Mill

  • Clifton Flower Park (Clifton): Local market stalls, and acoustic live music performances

  • Woodthorpe Park (Woodthorpe): Live Jazz band, bar, food and a children’s story tent

  • Bulwell Bogs (Bulwell): This event is by invite only and will recognise key workers who helped the community during the pandemic including live music, food, choir performance and tree planting

All beacons will be lit at 9:45pm.

The Green's Mill event runs from 8pm-10pm

  • Food and refreshments throughout

  • The mill and science centre will open for these two hours also

  • Music from Steve May on the Euphonium (8pm-8.30pm) and Nottingham Ukulele Club (approx. 8.40pm-9.30pm)

  • Speeches from Tom Huggon, Chairman of Green's Windmill Trust and Councillor David Mellen (approx. 9.30pm-9.40pm)
