Welcome to Torfaen County Borough Council's Online Admission Service.

This is where you apply for a school place. You must have parental responsibility for the child to make an application. Where the application is for a looked-after child, the Social Worker should make the application confirming the appropriateness of choice of school.

You will need to register a valid email address to use this service and you only need to register once, no matter how many children you are applying for. You MUST NOT allow other parents to use your online admissions account, as this may affect the application for your child. Select the Register button or enter your details and select the Login button. Please note it is important that you update any change of email address online as soon as possible in order to ensure that relevant correspondence is received.

If you have forgotten your password use the 'forgotten password' link. If you have not received an email to reset your password then please email school.admissions@torfaen.gov.uk who will assist you with this.

IN YEAR TRANSFERS 2024 / 2025

Parent / carers who wish to apply for their child(ren) to transfer between Torfaen schools either at primary or secondary level may use this facility to complete an application online. You can also use this facility to transfer into a Torfaen school either at primary or secondary level from a school outside of the County.

If your child is not a British / EU citizen, you will be required to provide a copy of your child’s visa / passport. Please note requests to transfer schools other than for moving residence may not be considered unless you have discussed with the Headteacher of your child's current school the reasons for your request in order to endeavour to resolve any issues that may have arisen.

You should also be aware that should your child(ren) be in either year 10 or 11, that the Authority with the support of all secondary schools within the County, actively discourages the transfer of pupils within these year groups due to the possible detrimental effect such a transfer can have on a child's education and the issues with matching GCSE options.

If the school Admission Number (AN) has been met in your child’s year group it will be necessary for the local authority to refuse the admission. In these circumstances a letter will be issued outlining the reasons for the decision and also the procedure for registering an appeal against the decision.

The application will be dealt with in accordance with the Authority’s transfer protocol within 15 school days or 28 calendar days , whichever is sooner. Pupils will remain on roll at their current school and will remain in attendance (where possible) until such point that the application to transfer schools has been authorised.
