The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Office of Minority Health has compiled the following federal resources on COVID-19 for consumers. Please share these materials, bookmark the page, and check back often for the most up-to-date information.

Based on the current COVID-19 trends, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Public Health Emergency for COVID-19 (PHE) declared by the Secretary of Health and Human Services expired at the end of the day on May 11, 2023. The following resources will help you move forward after the end of this PHE so that you can continue to feel confident about how you will receive your health care coverage. Please note that this information is not intended to cover every possible scenario.


Act Now: Renew Your Medicaid or CHIP Coverage

During 2023, States have recently restarted yearly Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) eligibility reviews. This means your state will use the information it has to decide if you or your family member(s) still qualify for Medicaid or CHIP coverage. If your state needs more information from you to make an eligibility decision, it will contact you, such as by sending a renewal letter in the mail, emailing, or calling you. Many children can still be covered through CHIP. For details, check your Medicaid notice or contact your state Medicaid office.
