(KEYC) — The nonprofit behind the notorious Give to the Max Day announced the launch of a new campaign on Friday, May 1.

GiveMN has raised millions of dollars for Minnesota-based causes with its annual Give to the Max Day, but the nonprofit organization is seeking to help Minnesotans who are in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In partnership with the Office of Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, GiveMN launched #GiveAtHomeMN, which is a week-long virtual fundraising event for nonprofits and schools across the state.

“One of the interesting things about crises historically, especially in Minnesota, is generosity doesn’t decrease during these times, it increases,” GiveMN Executive Director Jake Blumberg said. “We come together to help one another. April 2019 compared to April 2020 on GiveMN.org, we have seen a more than 500% increase in giving.”

#GiveAtHomeMN will begin Friday, May 1, and end Friday, May 8.
