ST. PAUL — People who live in group homes and other congregate care facilities will be able to attend day service programs that support employment and social activities beginning Monday, July 13, according to the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
New guidelines will require providers to have a COVID-19 preparedness plan in place and to follow other state licensing requirements related to hours and capacity. In addition, people who have, or who live with someone, with COVID-19 or who have had exposure within two weeks will not be able to attend the day programs.
Many day service programs closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, said officials, noting there are more than 300 day services in the state that serve 6,000 people a month.
“Recent decreases in COVID-19 cases in group homes across the state, as well as Minnesota Department of Health guidance, helped us decide that this is the right time to reopen services for all,” said Human Services Commissioner Jodi Harpstead.
