Enabling consumers to defend their interests collectively

Groups of consumers harmed by illegal practices will soon be able to start collective action and seek compensation. EP negotiators and EU ministers reached an agreement in June, to be discussed and endorsed (without a vote) by plenary following a debate starting at 8.45.

Foreign Affairs: Turkey, Middle East, crimes against journalists

From 15.15, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell will participate in a debate on escalating tensions between Cyprus and Turkey. He will also discuss the geopolitical implications of the Abraham Accords with MEPs and how to fight impunity for crimes committed against journalists around the world.

Backsliding on fundamental rights in the EU.

MEPs are likely to warn against the deterioration of EU values when they discuss the 2018-19 annual report on fundamental rights in the EU with Commission Vice-President Jourová, at around 10.00.

Online plenary briefings by political groups

Leaders of political groups will hold briefings, starting at 9.45 (S&D) and 10.30 (GUE/NGL).

Votes


Voting will take place between 11.00 and 12.15; first results will be announced at 15.00. The second voting session starts at 20.00 and lasts until 21.15, with results announced on Wednesday morning at 8.45.


MEPs will vote, among other things, on:


  • strengthening media freedom in the EU;
  • ideas for more sustainable consumer policies;
  • a new industrial strategy for Europe;
  • product safety in the single market;
  • stocktake of the 2019 European elections.
