EU-UK agreement

From 9.00, MEPs will discuss with Commission President von der Leyen, Vice-President Šefčovič and Portuguese Secretary of State Zacarias the trade and cooperation agreement that will regulate the EU-UK relationship. Parliament’s consent is necessary for the agreement’s formal entry into force. MEPs are also set to adopt an accompanying resolution laying out their views on the deal. The votes will take place at 19.55; results will be announced on Wednesday at 9.00.

Press conference by lead MEPs: following the plenary debate, and before voting, leading MEPs on EU-UK relations will hold a press conference at 14.00 to communicate their views on the final approval procedure and the future of bilateral relations.

European programmes for 2021-2027

MEPs will discuss the aims and budgetary allocations of several European programmes, including the Globalisation Adjustment Fund, the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme, the Justice programme, the Space programme and the Single Market programme. Should there be no requests for separate votes, their adoption will be confirmed following the debates, or, in case there are requests for votes, on Wednesday.

Saving the summer tourism season

MEPs will quiz Commissioner Breton and Portuguese Secretary of State Zacarias on EU support for the hospitality sector, one of the economic sectors hardest hit by the pandemic, in a debate starting at 20.30

In brief:

Budget discharge. Parliament will assess the 2019 accounts of 52 EU institutions and bodies. MEPs are expected to postpone the decision to clear the accounts of the Frontex border agency - awaiting further clarifications - and those of the European Council and the Council of Ministers, due to their failure to supply Parliament with the necessary data. The final votes on the resolutions will take place on Thursday.

Votes

Results of Monday’s votes will be announced at 9.00, among other things, on:

• the requests for the waiver of the immunity of Filip De Man, Zdzisław Krasnodębski and Ioannis Lagos.

The first voting session will take place between 13.00 and 14.15, with results announced at 19.00.

MEPs will cast final votes on:

• the Union Civil Protection Mechanism,

• a mandatory transparency register, and

• a more efficient and cleaner maritime transport.

They are also set to approve the Horizon Europe Research Programme.

The second voting session will take place between 19.55 and 21.10, where MEPs will cast their final vote on the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement and the accompanying plenary resolution.

The results will be announced to plenary on Wednesday morning at 9.00.
