HSI Douglas, police department arrest shooting suspect

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. – Over the span of three days, special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and officers with the Sierra Vista Police Department (SVPD) arrested an individual on multiple drug and firearms charges and executed search warrants in Cochise County.

Jerod Brown, 35, was arrested and booked into the Cochise County Jail for discharging a weapon at an occupied residence, disorderly conduct involving weapons, endangerment, possession of narcotics for sale, possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The chain of events unfolded about 2 p.m. Sunday when SVPD responded to a disturbance at the Circle K on North Garden. Officers established there was an altercation between two individuals. After the parties were separated, a vehicle was seen leaving the area, and an individual in the vehicle fired shots towards the other group. Projectiles and debris struck some motorcycles and the Circle K building. A separate person from the group driving the motorcycles fired his weapon towards the fleeing vehicle. Bullets struck the fleeing vehicle and two separate apartments which were occupied. Law enforcement identified the two individuals on the motorcycles.

On Tuesday, HSI special agents, Cochise County Sheriff’s Office tactical teams, and SVPD officers served search warrants on the 1400 block of Wildflower Drive and the 4500 block of Tranquility Drive. Numerous weapons and narcotics were seized from both residences. A third search warrant was served on West Freihage Drive where a vehicle involved in the incident was located. A pistol and the vehicle were secured as evidence from that location.

Two additional suspects are still being sought. Anyone with information relevant to this case is asked to contact SVPD Detective Thomas Ransford at (520) 452-7500.

The Cochise County Attorney’s Office is prosecuting this case.
