Achieving the goal of zero net carbon emissions by 2050 will require an unprecedented deployment of clean energy technologies and a significant transformation of the nation’s energy infrastructure. It won’t be easy, but a new report titled AI for Energy shows how it can be done – by harnessing the power of capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) to decarbonize the U.S. economy.

Today, we’d like to share another first for the Department of Energy. For the first-time in our history, we’re establishing an agency-related nonprofit foundation—The Foundation for Energy Security and Innovation (FESI)—to accelerate the commercialization of energy technologies. And we’d like you to meet its leaders. The Foundation’s inaugural board of directors are some of the United States’ best and brightest energy leaders and will foster public-private partnerships to meet our country’s ambitious clean energy goals. Learn more about the Foundation and board members here 👇 https://lnkd.in/eP-_vuej

With support from Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), scientists have merged two leading methods of fusion containment into a hybrid model that could be game-changing in advancing the development of fusion energy and make a path forward to more sustainable, abundant energy production. #FusionEnergyWeek
Sometimes you don't need a new technology - you just need to look at existing ones in a new way. To contain plasma for fusion, researchers at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) combined two older technologies. This approach offers a promising path forward, as covered in Popular Mechanics: https://lnkd.in/e4qq3ybv

This week, our Director Vanessa Z Chan was proud to represent U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles, CA. She spoke on the panel "Bridging Policy and Innovation: Paving the Way to Sustainable Energy" where she promoted the release of the new Pathways to Commercial Liftoff report: Innovative Grid Deployment. https://lnkd.in/dqDmpwNz 🗺️ 🚀 She highlighted how the DOE's current portfolio of off-the-shelf technologies such as reconductoring and dynamic line-reading can increase the capacity and efficiency of our existing gird. She estimated that a 20% investment of what it would cost to put in a new grid, you could double the capacity of some parts of our existing grid! 💪🛠️⚡ 📺 Watch the session here: https://bit.ly/4ai0nNn #Grid #TechTransfer #Liftoff
