Grants for community led initiatives improve wellbeing in Herefordshire

Herefordshire Together is delighted to announce this fund in partnership with Herefordshire Community Foundation; which is the first of the community paradigm ‘Community Chest’. Funded by Public Health at Herefordshire Council, this fund is looking for impactful community-led initiatives to:

  • 1. create lasting connections for people to improve their emotional wellbeing and sense of community belonging
  • 2. strengthen reach to families in need

Both these support the 10-year health and wellbeing priorities in Herefordshire.

Grants of up to £1,000 or between £1,000 and £20,000 are available for community projects meeting the criteria.

Christine Price – Chief Officer, Healthwatch Herefordshire

The development of Herefordshire’s paradigm shift is focusing on funding community-led prevention solutions. Loneliness and isolation in Herefordshire affect people of all ages. Increasing our connection to community enhances our sense of belonging which can have a positive impact on our emotional wellbeing and has been shown to increase life expectancy. 1 in 5 people have felt lonely at some point this year and lack of social connections is a greater detriment to health than obesity, smoking and high blood pressure.

The deadline for applications is Monday 12th February. To apply visit our fund page.
