VAN WERT — A celebration dinner was held at the Willow Bend Country Club on Oct. 19 to recognize the 60 clients of the Board of Developmental Disabilies working in the community at 35 different locations.

The theme was “Advancing Access and Equity: Then, Now, and Next,” and the dinner coincides with the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the first federal legislation to prohibit discrimination and address access and equity for people with disabilities.

Recognition and thanks were also given to those supporting: the families, friends, schools, providers (Thomas Edison Center, Capabilities and Partners in Employment) and Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities — for their support for successful employment. The board extended a special thank you to the employers who opened their doors to allow these employment opportunities to be available to those with disabilities.
