About the WebinarWhile much focus and funding has been devoted to combating the opioid epidemic, many communities have begun or continued to grapple with the impacts of methamphetamine use disorders. Unlike opioid use disorders, there are no medications approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of methamphetamine use disorders, and these disorders have historically been addressed through criminal justice responses. However, as many criminal justice professionals learn about the science of addiction and changes in the brain that result from substance misuse, there is growing interest in addressing issues related to methamphetamines using a public health approach. This webinar will present an overview of methamphetamine use and justice involvement, as well as, explore emerging or promising practices to address the needs of individuals with methamphetamine use disorders who interface with the justice system.
