Statement from NYS DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos on Trump Administration's Failed Attempt to Replace Clean Power Plan |
In another example of the Trump Administration's failure, the U.S. Court of Appeals today nixed the administration's anti-science and fact-challenged attempt to derail the Clean Power Plan. Replacing the Clean Power Plan with the 'Affordable Clean Energy' rule would have increased climate-altering emissions and air pollution while jeopardizing the nation's promising clean energy economy. Throughout the darkest days of the Trump administration, Gov. Cuomo and New York State kept leading the nation on climate action, advancing real progress with the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act that establishes the most aggressive greenhouse gas emissions targets in the United States. Now, after four years of phony science and unlawful attempts to pursue a deregulatory agenda, New York finally has strong partners in Washington, D.C. We look forward to working closely with the Biden Administration to share our expertise and support the nation's transition to the clean energy economy of the future that protects our communities and creates jobs. |
