Minnesota Lawmaker Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn 'Attacked' by Toddler During Committee Hearing

To curb the spread of coronavirus many people across the globe began working from home.

In fact, many Americans still are. According to Gallup's September update, more than 45 percent of full-time employees in the U.S. still worked from home either part or full time.

While this of course has its perks—no commuting or need to change out of tracksuit bottoms—for those of us that are parents it can be hard to juggle professionalism with children running around at home.

And this was certainly true for one Minnesota lawmaker who was accosted by her toddler while on a Zoom meeting.

Minnesota Rep. Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn was part of the House Commerce Finance and Policy Committee hearing on Wednesday October 27, which was to discuss liquor sales.

During the meeting, which was streamed on YouTube, Kotyza-Witthuhn began speaking about a draft she had authored about the wine shipping industry.

But her 15-month-old had other ideas. The little one can be overheard making noise off-screen, and the mother grabs the youngster onto her knee.

The toddler then begins to pull at her nose and, stifling giggles, the lawmaker continues talking about licensing structures and taxation.

When the child then grabs at her face a couple more times she then admits "being attacked by a 15-month-old."

Following this, the camera then cuts to another speaker who also cannot withhold his laughter.

Perhaps one of the most hilarious Zoom interruptions was one that actually took place before the pandemic.

Back in 2017, during a live television interview, Professor Robert E. Kelly was talking about the impeachment of South Korea's president on BBC World News.

His daughter, Marion, 4, then bursts into the room, followed by his infant son James in a baby walker.

Kelly unsuccessfully tries to gently push his daughter away, but his wife, Jung-a Kim, bursts in to the rescue and hastily grabs the two children and ushers them out of the room. The American academic then apologizes.

On March 16, 2020, when South Korea was in lockdown, Kelly tweeted a photo of himself with James sitting on his shoulders, writing: "This is what happens when I sit down at my desk now to try to work. It is basically impossible for me to work now.

"Be kind to your employees with kids. After two weeks penned up in the house, those kids are gonna be climbing the walls."

It seems many people can relate to that iconic scene now.
