Earth Day at Meaher 2023

Earth Day is celebrated every year to encourage environmental protection! This year at Meaher State Park we will be doing a park clean up event including picking up trash/recycling and discussing the importance of recycling and reducing waste. We will also be doing some invasive plant management in the park and cleaning up some of the grounds. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to get volunteer service hours in their community while also bettering our local environment!

Also, local beekeeper Ken Coale will be joining us and discussing the world of bees and beekeeping!

This event is open to anyone and everyone looking to be outside for Earth Day and help clean up the park. You are welcome to join for any amount of time within the scheduled hours, any little bit helps!

If you are wanting to help with the invasive plant management, email chloe.drexel@dcnr.alabama.gov to get your name on the list and get the release form that must be signed before any tools or chemicals can be handled.

*Be weather aware* Any updates to the event due to inclement weather will be made on our Facebook (Meaher State Park-Alabama).

What to bring: Close-toed shoes, weather appropriate clothing, water bottle, snacks and/or lunch, and maybe a hat/sunglasses.
