(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Cook County is starting a public service campaign aimed at getting more young people to wear masks at a time when health officials say the Chicago area is on the verge of a second wave of COVID-19.
“Mask Up Cook County” is the name of the new push to get people to wear masks, especially in the generation that’s seeing the biggest growth in cases: the 20-to-29 age group.
Cook County Senior Medical Officer Dr. Kiran Joshi said Monday he recognizes that everybody is tired.
“I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but we are now in the beginning stages of a second surge. And some schools are open, cooler weather and flu season are coming. Now is not the time to take our foot off the gas.”
The “Mask Up Cook County” campaign will rely on social media, with digital ads on YouTube, Instagram and Spotify through September in English and Spanish.
