Screening for Alcohol Use with SBIRT: Facilitators and Barriers to Implementation
Thursday, January 30, 2020 6:00:00 PM Coordinated Universal Time - 8:00:00 PM Coordinated Universal Time
Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is an evidence-based practice for early intervention and treatment of people with alcohol use disorder or at risk for developing alcohol use disorder. Successful implementation relies upon a number of organizational and system-level changes including leadership, training, policy, and reimbursement.

This webinar will reinforce the importance of alcohol screening, describe the SBIRT practice, and provide solutions for common barriers that have stood in the way of full implementation. Brie Reimann will share the evidence-base for alcohol screening and tools and resources to address implementation barriers. Aleea Shaw and John Radloff will discuss their experiences using SBIRT in a clinical setting and some of the strategies they have adopted to improve screening rates.
